The COVID-19 has forced a spike in the extreme poverty rate, either nationally or globally. Due to the pandemic, the national rate of poverty increased from 5.6 percent in 2019 to 8.4 percent in 2020.
There is a dire need for a new framework to view the problem of poverty.
